Meaning of Home

Hi, my name is Flo, and today I will be talking to you about what home means to me. Some people think a home and a house are the same thing, but they have a huge difference. A house is probably what you think it is, four walls, a door, windows and furniture. A home is something much different. A home also has walls, windows, a door and furniture, but it’s what’s inside that’s important. A home has special things in it, like the people or pets and a lot more. Home can mean so many things. Today I’m going to tell you what home means to me. Firstly, an important part of home is family. Family can protect you from harm, help and comfort you in bad situations. Maybe your parents are split up and you have two homes. For me, it’s going to be like that soon. Having your parents split up can make your family a little less happy. Even if you have two homes, it still means that they are both special. Your family can also be pets or friends, too. Maybe your friends or different family lives with you. Secondly, memories are a huge part of home. At my house, we have something called “Home Movies”. It’s where we have all my sisters and my baby/toddler videos saved. At my house we have our videos saved on to a USB, to hook up to our TV and watch them later. Some people don’t have their baby videos saved so you should have some pictures, or some videos saved, to look back at later. Memories aren’t just videos or pictures; they can be a lot of things. More on that in the next paragraph. Lastly, some things that are in your home can be super special like objects, maybe a special blanket or stuffed animal. Special things aren’t just objects, they can be feelings or memories too. Souvenirs, decorations, even something you bought at a store. Whatever shows your personality in your home, shows that your home is unique, and it represents you. In my home, my mom makes beautiful macrame pieces and those pieces represent me and my family. For my conclusion, I talked to you about what home means to me. I told you three reasons why home has a difference from a house. I told you about family, memories, and things in your home that makes it special. Your home is a great way to express who you are. It’s a great way to show your personal interests, style and what inspires you through color, texture and shape. It’s super important to bring parts of your life into your home. Your home will always show you and your family’s stories. I hope you enjoyed my writing piece and I hope you learned something new.
