The Coo of a Dove

Home is where I heard a cooing dove, calling its mate. Home is where I would always watch movies with family. Home is where my dog would sit in my lap when I sat down. Home is where I would play fight with my older brother. Home is where I eat food with my parents and family. Home is where we were connected. Home is where we could unwind and just simply have a fun time. Home is where I was welcomed. Then, all of it changed because of the move. My family was days away, and my dog grew up. Movies with family only happened during dinner. My grandfather passed away in 2018. My dad started smoking again and hid it from me. Everything was different, me included. It hurts. Sometimes though, only if I'm paying attention. The dove returns with its quiet song, so I listen to that dove, and remember all the memories I had with my family every day we were together, close my eyes, and rest away from my problems. But I know, the past can never return, so I say goodbye to it and think of the little things happening now. The things that still make me feel welcomed.
