My Home is Not Just a House

My home is my heart. It’s never too dark. When I step in my house, I don’t feel like a mouse. I feel big, like I'm seen. No one’s too mean. When I sit by the fire, I get very tired. My heart warms up with love and joy, then my brother sits beside me with his toy. My parents work hard to hold this family close together. My home is like a lovely feather. Pancakes are made in my house every Sunday. The toasty smell of batter and melty chocolate always makes it a fun day. The warm smell tickles my nose, and goes all the way to my toes. My home is like a sweet cookie. It’s mixed with my mom, my dad, my brother, and me. As you can see, my family are not rookies. But don’t forget a sprinkle of my nanny, who makes our cookie rise with surprise. If someone were to come to my home they would add a peanut, or a tree nut. It makes my home not feel as alone. Home is so much more than a house, it’s people. Thank you Habitat for Humanity for giving people a home where they will make amazing memories!
