What Home Means To Me

Home is where forever you feel that you belong, Where you can hide from your fears all lifelong. Home is what fills you up on a chilly winter day like a hot cup of cocoa, Somewhere you can be all “loco”. Home is where your best and worst memories are made, Where you are with the people, you’d never trade. It is where your heart forever stays, It is the place where you look back and think, “I miss those days.” Home is my definition of peace, Except for when you hear me argue with my brother for the last sweets. It is where we gather to play cards, And where you look up to your superstars. Home is where I smell my favorite meals being cooked by the best chefs, As I reach with loved ones for dreams and success. Home is where we can complain, An ear to listen will always remain. It is when I come back to see smiles, Going from one ear to the other, spreading miles. As their eyes glitter with cheer, Home is where we eat cake on birthdays every year. It is when you can forever laugh uncontrollably, That your stomach hurts visibly. Home is where I’ll always get nagged, Because they care so I understand. It is where I see portraits of us hung on the wall, Home is a place when you need help, you can call. Home is when you can smell my mom’s army, Full of beautiful flowers and succulents surround me. Our home is what we shape, and what shapes us, Where we never leave each other in the dust. Home is where you can be a kid once again, Where you never need to pretend. It is where you find your identity, Who you are physically and mentally. Home is where you’ll always have a shoulder to cry on, When misfortune falls upon. This is what home means to me, It is where I am free.
