Home Is Where The Heart Is

Home is my heart and soul, my family surrounding me. Home is not just a house, home is not just a shelter above my head. Home means a long day of crazy adventures and fun, then getting home and cuddling up in front of the fire with warm hot chocolate. Home is getting on my pjs and finding the best movie while hearing the popcorn sizzle in the microwave. Home is not a building, home is not a house. Home is chasing my siblings down the stairs, grabbing all the blankets I can possibly find, and building the best fort in the world. Home is not simply made up of four walls, home is my Jewish identity. Coming home early from school and lighting the Sabbath candles with my mom. Singing Shalom Aleichem with family and guests while listening to the sound of fun and laughter. Home is not a structure, home is a feeling. Home is sitting outside with friends shivering next to heat lamps, roasting marshmallows until your toes nearly fall off! Home is not judged based on the outside, it is the inside that matters. My parents, brothers, grandparents, and friends are those that matter most. Home is a loving place, and a place where I can unwind and take a break from all my stress. It is where I have a chance to breathe and empty my head of the world around me. There is no place I would rather be than home. Thank you Habitat for Humanity for giving me an opportunity to participate in this competition to help people in need.
