Home Sweet Home

Home, what is a home? A thing, a place, most say its a structure. Well to me, it’s a feeling of being safe, of being heard, being cared for by my family, and those closest to me. H.O.M.E spells home, let me tell you about what home means. I'm going to break it down into four parts. H stands for happy, and heard. When I'm happy I feel safe, special, and like a part of a community. Being heard feels like someone cares for you. Like a time when I was down, I asked a teacher for help. I was heard, recognized, and happy. Another time I was at Canada's wonderland, I was scared to ride a rollercoaster, so my brother helped me. I felt happy at the end of the day. H is an important part of home. O stands for original. When I am at home I can be original. When I'm not at home, I'm scared of what people think or say about me, but when I’m at home I'm comfortable with what people think. Like a time I was scared to ask someone for help so I remembered to use my words. I got help at the end, and I felt at home. If I had to tell you a message, be yourself. That is what O stands for in home. M in my opinion is the most important word. M is to be mindful and feel relaxed. To clear your mind from all. If I'm in a place where I can relax it feels like home. I get scared for the upcoming test right around the corner. So I did some breathing, and calmed down. It's always good to calm yourself from time to time. That is what M stands for in home. Last but not least E means empathetic. People in a community care for each other, bond with each other, and love each other, and feel each other's pain. In class when I do not know a question. People beside me understand how I am feeling, and help me figure things out. I was amazed how nice and caring my friends are, and how they feel like home. To me that is what the E in home means. Now you know what home means. I will tell you some places I feel home. Number one is my family. When I feel down, the people I trust most are my family. Mom, Dad, sisters, and brothers are who I talk to. It's always great talking to my brother about upcoming events, and events that happened. This is a way I get along with my brothers. If I needed to talk about more personal stuff, I would go to my parents. My parents listen to how I feel about life. My parents set me up for success. Another thing I call home is school. At school I build friendships with friends, and trust that can't be broken. Friends are here for you always to the end. Teacher set me up to be the best I can be. Teachers help students grow, and learn, for life ahead. Without teachers I would not have the knowledge I have today. For the end I have a poem. Home is a place to learn and grow. My community helps me know. Through winter, fall, spring, and summer. Home is your community forever and ever. Home is not a place to be scared. It is to conquer your fears anywhere. Caring goes through the air. The community loves to give and share. Always do your best, and you will succeed. If you do, you will be pleased. Thank you for listening, also be yourself.
