Privileged

“Privileged”, they call us. Lucky. Happy. Rich and full of life. All because we have a roof to live under. A home and a house are not the same. The songs we sing, the happiness we produce; could all be gone just like that. The clock is tic-tic-ticking all the time, because suddenly, without warning, you could have no house. Yet you could still have a home. Those songs and happiness never leave you; they’re just gone temporarily. That clock will keep on ticking, and maybe you’ll get your house back. A home and a house are not the same. A home describes what we feel, how we feel, who we trust, and what we are. What we are on the outside doesn’t matter. It’s the inside that counts, as people say. A house is just a physical structure. A place where we sleep, eat, and play, and repeat over and over again until we have to go. “Privileged” they called us. Lucky. Happy. Rich and full of life. I hope they can understand one day. One day, hopefully, they will. A home and a house are Not. The. Same.
