What home means to me

What home means to me is a place to live and be. A home is not just a place to live. It is a place to love and give. It’s where you wear your comfy pajamas with holes. Read worn out books from Chapters or Coles. At the front door you're hit with the smell of good food. The smell is not mean or rude. The smell triggers you into the right mood. Upstairs you sleep where the bed is comfy and neat. Where your loving mom massages your feet. In the basement you have adventures and explore. And dad yells from upstairs to shut the door. Because at home you can be a little loud. You can express, grow and be proud. In the backyard you sit by the bonfire. That lifts your spirits a little higher. On the driveway you play basketball in the middle of fall. In the winter you hustle to deck the hall. In the spring mom pays you to do some weeding. When it’s warm outside, you do a little reading. I have learned that a home is not just a place to sleep or eat, it’s not just a place to live and be. A home is also your family.
