Home: a place of diversity and care

Home looks different for every person. Some people get excited because their mother is making her famous, comforting tamales for dinner. Some people get excited because of Friday Sabbath. I get excited on Sundays because have family dinner with my Italian grandfather and his accent makes me feel at home. The children run around as I smell the distinct smell of lasagne and homemade bread. Then my grandma teaches all of the kids how to crochet. You may get excited for different reasons. Homes are diverse and special. That’s what makes them important to others and yourself. When I have had a bad day, I talk into my mother constantly for support. I feel like she is the only one who understands. My 3 year old brother and I play hide-and-seek, (which he barely understands) and I sit in the front closet, eagerly waiting for him to find me. When he finally finds me, I notice the smile on his face when he sees me. Thank you Habitat for Humanity for providing others a safe place to make memories with their family as I have made with mine.
