What Home Means to Me

Some people say a home is the same as a house, however I disagree. A house will have walls, a roof, and a door that can keep you dry, but a home is very different. It doesn't matter how small or big the house is or even if you have or don't have a house. A home is not tied to the physical structure, it is tied to everything you fill it with. A home is made up of the people you love, the things you love, and the things that make you happy. Home is a safe place where you feel like you're at peace and can share all your thoughts and feelings. It's a place where you won't be judged by the world. A home to me includes the Lord, my family, hugs, and laughter. You may start with a key and four plain walls but as your house develops it will start to become a home. Your home may include different things than mine and that's ok because we're all different. Even if you live on the streets you can feel at home if you're with the people you love. Having a house will make it easier to build your home but if you feel safe and loved that can be your home. Your home can be anywhere because the key to having a home is love and happiness. Having a home is about the people you're with and it's not about the house. Home is also about a relaxing, calm place where you can do what you want to do. Home is also where there is happiness anywhere you turn. Home is where your life begins, where you grow up, and where your young family will grow up.
