Meaning of Home

Home is a happy place. In Iran, the government didn't like the people, so no one was happy. But, in Canada, the government is friendly, and people are happy. We have freedom in Canada. For example, in Iran, women have to wear hijab, which my mom didn't like. But now, in Canada, she doesn't have to, and she is happy. Home is also a place where I can live without fear. In Iran, every day, we feared that because of my religion, the government might make the principal kick me out of school. In Canada, I don't have that fear. Home is a place where you can have the freedom to have pets. In Iran, you're not allowed to have pets because in the government's religion, pets are considered bad. I respect their religion, but that doesn't mean everyone else shouldn't have pets. Home also means having friendly neighbors. When I first came to Canada, my neighbors welcomed my family, and we quickly became friends. I didn't have kid friends until one day when I was playing basketball in my garage. A kid and his mom came over and asked if I wanted to be his friend, and I said yes. Canada is my home because women have freedom, we are safe in our neighborhood and schools, we can have things that I couldn't have before, our neighbors care about us, and that's what home means to me.
