My Home Is Known By Love

The reason why my home is still standing today is because of the hill of the love we share each day. Sometimes I think my home is known by love. My home is known by candles flaming, and me naming all the reds, oranges, yellows. Light pushes through the dark of the night. Smells of pine trees and flowers dance across the room, I call it a scented explosion. BOOM! The candles and Mom’s baking mix together. I could smell that smell forever. My home is known by the pitter patter on the window. The pitter patter turns into a shhhhhhhhhhhhhh of rain falling harder. The shhhhhhhhhhhhhh turns into a boom of thunder. The boom of thunder turns into Dad saying let’s go on the porch. My home is known by walls covered with pictures. To you they may look like a picture in a frame, but to me they look like memories, all memories to name. Memories of my family at the cottage, memories of Christmas morning. Memories of my family and friends, no memories of things being boring, and memories of the love we give and get. My home is known by Monday mornings…” I DON’T WANNA GET OUT OF BED!!” And Friday nights…” I have to rest my head.” Home is a place you’re never alone, a place to dream and to be yourself. My heart beams because knowing Habitat for Humanity will someday give everyone a warm healthy home to live, grow, and thrive in. THANK YOU, HABITAT, FOR HUMANITY!
