Toasty Saturday Mornings

As I spend my morning minutes in my toasty bed, the Saturday sun gently shines through my window, calmly waking me. I can’t seem to get myself out of my cozy blankets as my head slowly melts back into the pillows. I smell delicious maple bacon and buttery eggs coming from the kitchen. The syrupy sensation fills the air and I practically run downstairs for breakfast. My family surrounds the table as toast is passed around. Daisy begs beside me for a bite of my breakfast. I sneak her a bit of bacon under the table, and she munches on it the same as the rest of us. After my family and I finish our filling meal, I clear the dishes and run to my room, where colourful lights and fluffy blankets await. I softly land on my mattress, slowly sinking into the cloud like fabric. I reach for my phone, and see the notifications from my friends. My family and friends are what makes my house a home, they make me feel warm and fuzzy on the inside, like I’m being hugged by a warm fluffy blanket. Or drinking a nice mug full of hot cocoa on Christmas morning. If home were a feeling this is what my home would feel like, warm and cozy. My safe space. Home isn't just my house, home is my family, where I grew up, where all of my memories are, good ones and bad ones, but even through the toughest of times, my home makes me feel safe, it’s where I can be myself.
