HOME IS NOT A PLACE, BUT A FEELING

My name is Clara and I wanted to make a fictional short story about how for a lot of people their house is not their home. “KIMBERLY LEE BIRD, GET DOWN HERE” I woke up with a start and jumped out of bed, That was my mother, she wakes me up like this every day. I walked down the stairs to see my mother angrily tapping her foot on the floor and staring at me with anger in her eyes. She looked at my younger brother and her expression completely changed from anger to love. This may be my house, but it’s definitely not my home. I have been searching for a place where I feel safe, loved and where I belong, but I have not found that place. I recently came out and got a girlfriend and ever since then my mom has been very angry and even showing hatred. The good thing is I’m going to try to find a place, and I’m going to look at one with my girlfriend in 30 minutes, it’s on a farm with mostly horses, but I hope it will be more than a house… I hope it will be home. “I’m going to look at a house with Aimee in 30 minutes, I’m going to head out” I said “The sooner it is, the better for both of us” she said I grabbed my stuff and got in my car, I used to be spoiled and my mom and dad got me a Bronco before he died and I came out. It is a very nice car and if I wanted to go off-roading it would be amazing. I arrived at the place, and it’s called Crescent Moon Ranch, it looks beautiful and rustic. I immediately felt safe and loved as soon as I talked to the owner, Morrigan, she was great and welcoming, when we looked at the house I knew that I had to rent it. A few days later, I realized this is what home feels like. I was finally home. Thank you Habitat for Humanity for giving people a house and a home.
