The Home That I Hold Dear

Home will always be my favorite space, It is the hearth of a fireplace. Fueled by the warmth of our love, As comfortable as a hand in a glove. Home is where love is encouraged and embraced, A sanctuary, where all unpleasant memories are erased. It is not just a roof over my head, But a place of joy and acceptance instead. It is where new leaves are constantly being turned over, It beats the feeling of finding a lucky clover. Whenever I feel like everything is out of place, Coming home will always put a smile on my face. On my worst days when nothing feels right, When my siblings and I fight. It can be difficult, but we forgive and forget, And we always put an end to being upset. We constantly enjoy each other’s company, Although our moods are not always in symphony. There are times we do not get along, But forgiveness keeps our relationship strong. I smile to myself while my parents tuck me in at night, And say goodnight as they reach for the light. I say a prayer of thanksgiving, For this wonderful life I am living. Home is where the most important memories are made, As well as a place where we are never afraid. The moments held here are unforgettable, And the feeling of being home is incomparable. The thought of someday leaving home makes me sad, There are still a lot of good times to be had. I cherish the memories I hold dear, With my family by my side, I have nothing to fear.
