Where the Heart is...

Home is where bonds are made, and promises are broken. Love is seen in our eyes, and sometimes hatred in our mouth. So many laughs I cannot count nor describe. A place of togetherness even when apart, a place of warmth even in the winter. My family will always be home. Family is not always your biological figures. Family are the people who strengthen you when times are tough, help you at your lowest, and where you feel like home! I feel impowered in my mom’s arms and awakened in my dad’s sight. I feel happiness in my sibling’s laughter and loved in my home. Some people find home in a house, maybe an apartment. Home to me is a Filipino dish cooking up in the kitchen, the different creeks in the floorboard. My always “trying to be funny” dad, my loving mom, my always determined sister, and my big vocabulary brother, and of course, my energetic doggy. Home isn’t the walls and the floor. It’s where your heart is. Thank you Habitat for Humanity, for opening your heart up so people can find where their heart is.
