Home Is Where Love Is

Home is where love is formed, and memories are created with the people I care about.  Home is where my family is. It is where I call my sweet, yet rowdy cousins on Saturday nights across the world. It is where my little brother bugs me while our parents are just doing their own peaceful work.   Home is where I used to cuddle my little brother in bed when monsters were a thing. Home is the creaky stairs that are accompanying me when I’m going downstairs. It is when the whole family is sitting on what seems, like an ancient sofa, watching movies.  Home is where dogs in my neighborhood bark and wake me up on weekend mornings. It is the sound of my parent’s thunderous snores (they still deny they snore!). Home is the sound of my brother’s terrible jokes that still make me laugh.  Home is the smell of my mom’s baking, attracting everyone to the kitchen to just smell it. It is the smell of fresh cut grass getting trampled on by my brother playing soccer (who takes it way too seriously).   Home is the feeling of joy and pride when we celebrate Chinese New Year. It is the warmth of my mom’s famous noodles that will eventually be passed on, for generations to come. Home is the love we all share, even all around the globe. Home to me, is what’s inside the heart, which is family.  Thank you, Habitat for Humanity for giving kids my age a chance to share their stories to people in Canada, yet also help create a home for others.
