My Home

Home, a place of love and laughter, where your deep, rooted memories are built. It’s the vibrant colors of family pictures. This is home. Home is a place of love as we sit by the fire and watch world famous football players take our eyes off the beautiful fire light. It’s having board game nights that have family rivalries, making them last hours longer than planned. Home is where you see brilliant, delicious icing over luminous sugar cookies and where snowflake shaped treats cover the counters. It’s when you walk around the corner, and you can see a glorious Christmas tree with every branch filled with ornaments. It’s where you see Christmas lights, glistening in the moon light as they change colors. Home is where you hear fire crackling at the doorstep of your ear. It’s where you hear your pets’ steps on the clean floor, (making it not so clean any more). It’s the sound of funny cartoons playing in the basement while children laugh. It’s the sound of a rowdy chainsaw as it cuts through the air and sinks its teeth into a big log. Home is where you smell the beautiful, freshly cut Christmas tree, with little pokey needles falling every second. It is the smell of home-made cookies coming right out of the oven. Home is the feeling of family snuggles, the arms of your mom and dad wrapping around you, squeezing the life out of you. It’s the feeling of your soft, cozy blanket covering over you, keeping you nice and warm. It’s the feeling of soft pillows, hitting you right in the face. That’s the feeling of home. Home to me is being in a safe place. Thank you, Habitat for Humanity, for helping solve Canada’s housing crisis.
