What Home Means to Me

For an ant, home is its colony. For a squirrel, home is the tree hole where it stores all of its nuts. Home is essential to everyone. But for me, home is truly a blessing. Home is the place I am blessed with all the comfort of life. At home I don't worry about wind and snow. I enjoy clean water and bright light. On the table I always find delicious foods such as fried rice and chicken nuggets. At night I rest my body and mind in my cozy bed. What a comfortable place to be! Home is a place where I am blessed with my family. Without parents, siblings and friends, a house is nothing but concrete and bricks. Here we care for each other. We share our love and joy. In difficult times home is where we find the best support. It is people in the family that make a house into a home. I think that everyone is entitled to receive the blessing of a home, especially those in need. Some people are so poor that they cannot afford a home. Some people are old and weak so it's not safe for them to live alone. Also others who are sick and cannot look after themselves. To them, home offers not only shelter, but safety and support that their lives depend on. Blessings of home are not to be taken as granted. We all owe a duty of care to our home, in every aspect of life. We need to show respect to our parents, care for our siblings, and be kind to our friends and neighbors. We also think of building strong communities and keeping the balance between development and environment protection. After all, the planet earth is our ultimate home. The blessing of home extends once it is appreciated and shared. I wish through Habitat for Humanity projects, we can put our hands and mind together, so we are able to provide such great blessings called home to everyone.
