If Home Were a Dessert

If home were a dessert it would taste like freshly baked apple pie, the friends would be like the crispy crust on the outside and the family would be like the sticky syrup with the apples warming your mouth. Adding ice cream onto the top of the slice of pie would be like the neighborhood’s kindness and the calls from a grandparent or friend. If home were a dessert it would taste sweet sugar cookies covered in vanilla icing and rainbow sprinkles.T he sprinkles would be like when the community has a gathering, celebrating the success or work of the others. As icing is a smooth, sugared, running liquid that cools down and turns into a delicious and smooth icing, so is the work of the community. They start as beginners but with the wise advice from their elders they start to grow into people who can help and care for others. From a soft dough comes a chewy and delicious cookie. The dough is cooked together like the neighborhood when they bond together through every hard time. If home were a desert it would taste like a frosted cupcake freshly from the oven and just frosted with a butterknife.. The light and fluffy cake underneath would be like the comfortable place of a friend's welcoming home and the swirly frosting would be like the fun that you have with your friends and family. If home were a desert it would taste like a sweet, freshly baked and creamy carrot cake. The moist and warm cake would be like the warmth of a mother and friend as they give you a big hug. Like frosting is layered carefully so it won’t fall, Habitat For Humanity builds safe and protected homes for people.
