What Home Means to Me

“Home.” Say the word. Doesn’t it feel full... right? Whoever invented that word must have put a lot of thought into it. Some of the things that make me feel at home are my family, the emotions and memories, and that safe, comfortable feeling. For me, the most important part of home is my family. One reason for this is being with the people I love makes me feel welcome and appreciated. Also, my brother is one of my best friends, even though he’s annoying sometimes. My cats are part of my family too--they always make me feel warm and happy. I love my family very much. Another wonderful part of home are the associated emotions and memories. I have countless memories of the fun things I have done at home with my family, friends, or by myself. At home, my family is there to help me get through the hard times, and share in my happiness when something good happens. When I feel sad, being in my own home makes me feel better, more powerful, more myself. My home is full of invisible things that make it my home. One final amazing part of home is the feeling of comfort and safety. It is much easier to feel comfortable when surrounded by a familiar place. When in my home, I feel safe, at home, happy. In my home, I can relax and just be myself. Home is a place you feel welcome. A home is brought to life by the things, whether visible or not, that are inside. Mine is brought to life by my family, the emotions and memories, and the feeling of comfort and safety I get when there. A home is a place to be yourself, to love and be loved. Everyone deserves a home.
