The Meaning of Home to Me

By: Victoria La Marca Title: The meaning of home to me. When you pass by your new house just in the middle of construction, you wonder, which bedroom is mine? Do I get my own bathroom? You think about what the kitchen looks like, and if there is a place to stash candy and sweet treats. Will there be a big tv and a nice cozy sofa to rest in front of, just like the one you saw in the magazine at the store? Will there be tons of places to hide when playing hide and seek and to hang out with your friends? But then you refer back to that one family you saw on the streets. With no kitchen, no bedroom, no bathroom, no tv, no sofa, no toys to play with, no warm place to stay in the winter, no food or sweet treats, and sometimes no loving home. You want to help that one family or more to have a healthy, safe and warm place to stay. All around Toronto and around the world almost 1.89 billion families are desperately in need of a house to raise their children and loved ones. Adults often lose their jobs and can't afford a place to stay. Too many families lose their job every year which makes it harder to pay the bills. Families need a place to come home to after a hard day at work. They need a roof over their heads in the winter. They need a place to give thanks in October and cut the turkey. Families need a place to make memories in. Most importantly children and adults need to be loved by one another to complete a home. A house is to be lived in but a home is to be loved under.
