Meaning of Home

To me, home is a safe, secure, and comfortable place to live, have fun and create memories. From outside, home is just a building made of bricks and wood, but inside my home, there are lots of things like warm and cozy beds, couch, entertainment equipment like TV, Lego, PS4, drawing supplies etc. Home is also where my memories lie. For example, while I was playing hide and seek with my brother, I fell down and hurt my head. I also remember that once I got stuck in the closet in my bedroom. I remember, at home my brother taught me how to solve the Rubik’s Cube. At the balcony of my home, I play with baby pigeons. Along with all above memories, my dreams and hopes grew at my home. Here I dream big to be a veterinarian, a doctor, an inventor, or to create my own YouTube channel to teach and entertain other people. Without home I couldn't dream all above and make it real. Home is a basic human need, but not everybody is lucky enough to afford a home. In Toronto approximately 8,700 people directly have no home to live in and indirectly there are thousands of people experiencing ‘hidden homelessnes’. I feel really bad when I see younger kids and elderly people shivering on the street and sleeping there, because they have nowhere to go and live. So, what does home mean to them? The streets they’re sleeping on is their home. There is no single meaning of home. To the richest, home is a luxury and symbol of status but to others, home is an essential place to live, dream and raise kids. When I grow up, I might invent affordable housing solutions, so that everyone can have a roof over their head.
