A Place Called Home

April had grown up in an orphanage. She had never known her parents, and the caregivers at the orphanage had never truly cared for her. April’s meals were always the same - fish stew. She often skipped meals because the stew was for the most part water. Of course, the head caregiver would then march up to her room and scold her for it. April’s only friend in the orphanage was Cassie. They had grown up together and had been there for each other through thick and thin. Cassie had brown hair, and April was blonde. While April had deep green eyes, Cassie had soft brown irises. Cassie had a pointed nose, and April had a rounded one. All this aside, they both had a tan complexion. Neither of them had ever had someone trying to adopt them. Until one day. April had been doing her chores with Cassie when the carriage pulled up the driveway. A couple and a girl were escorted to the door. The woman had long blonde hair, the man had short auburn hair and the girl had brown hair and bangs that covered her forehead. The head caregiver ushered them into the orphanage, and the couple said that they were interested in adopting two children. The head caregiver knew that April nor Cassie had ever had this chance, so she brought the friends to meet the family. They learned that the woman was named Kendyn, the man Aaron, and the girl Reese. The family’s faces lit up when they saw April and Cassie, and the two finally found a home.
