The Meaning of Home

Home is not just a place, or a privilege. Home is where you feel safe, where you can do as you please, where you are surrounded by people you love, where you can trust others around you, home is where you are loved. Home is more than a roof over your head. It is more than a place to sleep. To some people it is watching their children run around and play, to others it is growing old together. To me, it’s not the same. To me it’s where I have my own space, where we go on long walks, where I can be who I am, a place I will always go back to, and a place where I feel happy, as if I were in a field surrounded by things I love, like horses or dogs. Thinking about the fact that some people do not have a home makes me sad, it makes me realize how lucky I am. Habitat for Humanity is making a change in this world, raising a charity, and building homes for those in need. Its important. Programs and volunteers are trying to fix this situation. If you write a little letter or a poem on a page, we can make people happy, and help them fix this, together.
