The Feeling of Home

To me, home is not just a physical place
Home is a feeling

It’s the feeling I get when I’m snug in my bed,
under the quilt I made with my grandma
My dad asks me about my day,
and my mom sings to me

Home is a feeling

It’s the feeling I get when I’m at school
Playing with my friends,
who welcomed me when I moved to this city,
and didn’t know anyone

Home is a feeling

It’s the feeling I get when I travel
The adventures I share with my family
Seeing how other people live, work and play
Creating memories

Home is a feeling

It’s the feeling I get when I play sports
The energy created by my team
The wind in my hair and my heart beating fast
Pushing myself to my limits

Home is a feeling

It’s the feeling I get when I read a book
Immersing myself in another world
Imagining all that is possible,
and all that isn’t

Home is a feeling

It’s the feeling I get in nature
Breathing the crisp, clean air
Listening to the waves crash on the rocks
The sun on my back and the sand between my toes

Home is a feeling

It’s the feeling I get when I share a meal
with family and friends
Remembering how fortunate I am,
and knowing I am loved
