The Home that We Make

The Home that We Make

Home is a mother’s unending love, home is a father’s strong hug. Home is school with friends that will never leave you. Home is the people you are embarrassed with, the ones you laugh with, the one you cry with. Home is when you love someone so much you’d follow them to the ends of the world.
Home is being on a team supporting each other, home is your wins and your losses, home is your bad and your good bringing out the best in each other.
Home is the world of stories where you can lose yourself in a land of fantasy and imagination. Home is the stories we make for ourselves. Home is when a book is so powerful it stays with you, making an impact on your life.
Home is the beach with the crashing of waves that are loving and calm, but have the power to destroy and hurt. Home is a forest after it has rained where the moss is cool and welcoming with trees that tower over you in a steady presence.
Home is water so beautiful, and yet so dangerous, something mysterious and playful but dark and unknown. Home is the silent touch of water when you jump in, it is the reminder of the difference between life and death.
Home is the emotions that take hold, sometimes never letting go, they are the pain and sorrow that we have to experience otherwise we may never feel love and joy.
But what home really is, is what we fight for. Home is when we fight for those who can’t. Home is the people and the places we fight to protect. Home is the world around us, it is the places we were given and made our own.
Home to me is simply, whatever we make it.
