My Big Tree
My home is special to me because it is a happy place. “ My home is where we all get along”, but that’s kind of a fake statement. My home isn’t perfect. We argue about the most ridiculous things in the world. But at the end of the day, we all love each other, because we’re family. During the days and nights my house is a chaotic place, but my home is a special and happy place to me.
My house is filled with nice things, like tv’s, computers, and x-boxes, but that’s doesn’t make a home. A home is somewhere where you are loved and cared about. It is a place where you can be free. A place that you can hang out with your friends. My home is like a big tree, because we are all different and changing in so many ways but our roots all come back and live in the same garden. Some people say, “home is where the heart is” and when I think about it I think this is very true because a home is where you are loved and where you should know that nobody will ever hurt you. You are encouraged to be your best, and are pushed to achieve excellence in all that you do, it is a place that you can be sad, supported, and respected.
In my home I used to be scared of big storms, I could hear the winds whirling and raging outside. But now I watch them, and I don’t feel scared anymore because I feel safe in my home. I used to be scared of a lot of things like snakes, spiders and the dark, but a lot of things have changed, just like in my “big tree”. I have seen people come and go over the last year. The branches of our big tree has expanded with new family members being added.
A home is not just the physical structure that we live in, like a family is not just the people that are related by blood to us. When I first heard this I didn’t quite understand the meaning, but after I sat unsure what to write, I realised what this truly means. Our families aren’t just people that share DNA with us, but are people that have a sentimental connection to us. Similarly, our home isn’t just a structure where we live it is a place where we are loved, cared for and cherished. “Home is where love resides, memories are created, friends and family belong and laughter never ends”-unknown.
