Home is where the heart is

Home is where the heart is,

that’s what people say,

I believe it’s true,

no one should live any other way.

Outside I am shy,

but at home I am loud.

Seeing my family,

It makes me feel proud.

Dinner on the table,

chatting with my family,

over steaming plates.

After, we sit on the couch lazily.

Sitting in my bed,

surrounded by cozy blankets,

reading my favorite books,

while sitting with my pets.

I’m writing this poem,

for those in need,

those without a home,

or a bed to sleep.

A home isn’t just a shelter,

It’s a place where you feel loved,

a place where you feel safe,

a place where you belong.
