HOME

Home
A house is made of wood and stone but only love can make a home. Some people do not know or understand the difference between a house or a home. A house is totally a different thing because a house is a physical structure. Home is a very special place because it’s where you first learn to build relationships. It is a place where you feel loved, secure and protected. When you feel fearful, troubled, stressed or worried, home is a safe haven.

When we think of home, it reminds us of the precious moments in our life. Our memorable birthdays, celebrations, Christmas Parties loaded with gifts, and Thanksgiving dinner full of food on the table. Home creates a lifetime of memories and it is truly where we belong.

Home is where we first learn the meaning of belonging, togetherness, cooperation and respect for oneself. It is not just a place where we collect things that we like such as; toys for my brothers, tools for my dad, plants and pictures for my mom, and my collections of dolls. Rather, it is a place where we put together memories that will be remembered forever.

As I write this essay, I realized how blessed I am to have a home. It is a simple home, where furniture may not be new, its size is just right for our family, and its neighborhood is not the best, but everyday I wake up with a roof over my head, food on my table, clothes in my closet, and a place to sleep, I am richer than 75 % of the world who are not privileged to have a home.
