Grade 5

Newfoundland and Labrador

1 in 8 Canadians don’t have a home. A home is a place with laughter. A house is a place with shelter and food and with no comfort.

A home is where you hear laughter and chatter. Home is a place where you can get in your pj’s after a hard day at work or school and you can smell the fresh cut, sizzling bologna in the frying pan.

Home is not a big mansion with a big backyard. It’s not about what your house looks like, it’s the feeling that home gives you when you have a rough day and then you can just feel nice and cozy. Home is a place with warmth and comfort and saying good night to your Mom and Dad before you go to bed.

My home is special to me. My home is the place I would most rather be in the world.
