Grade 6

Newfoundland and Labrador

Trying to get ready in time for school,
Hearing the sound of arguing in the halls.
Sticks scraping asphalt in the late evening light,
And the rhythm of pucks beating of walls.

Watching a movie on a stormy night,
Away from the wind and rain.
A place for love and comfort,
For every night and every day.

Home is a relief from the dry air,
Blistering sun and wet snow.
Scary things and stress,
It’s easy to tell that home’s the best.

Everyone should have a home;
The big, the small,
The rich, the poor.
Home is a place for all, and no less.
