Grade 5

British Columbia

When I was nine, I moved.
The new place felt like home right away,
Because of the warmness
Because my mom was there
And my stuff in my room.

If my stuff wasn’t there, it would not feel like home
Even though I don’t have anything that important in my room.
If it wasn’t warm, it wouldn’t have felt like home
Because home is supposed to be warm – really warm.
But the most important is my mom
It wouldn’t be home without her.

If you didn’t have a home, it would be boring.
It would be cold.
It would be lonely.

Home means safety.
Home means family.
