Grade 6

Home is where memories are made, where joy never ends and where loving your family is number one on your to do list.

I remember the time when I dropped a plate on the ground, it shattered and made a dent on the hardwood floor. There are so many dents on the floor that it’s hard to even remember how each dent was made. That is one of the many kinds of scars in my house. Take marks on the walls for an example, when I accidentally scratched the wall and peeled the paint off, I covered it up but it’s still there. Some people think that having dents in the floor and paint peeling off the walls is a bad thing but really, these scars make my house a home.

Every Christmas, New Year and birthday gathering in my family is almost always celebrated at my house. We put my Mom’s birthday and my birthday together, we do the same for my Dad and my brother. Family gatherings are the most important thing about my home and any home.

I have a lot of mixed feelings sometimes. Sometimes I’m mad because my brother did something that I don’t appreciate. Sometimes it’s the opposite and I’m really happy. Having those feelings really makes me think about how fortunate I am to have all of these feelings in my home and that is something I think is really important to have in a home.

Don’t you think it would be nice if everyone could have a safe and decent place to live? We can make a difference if we all work together!
