A Quest For The Meaning Of Home

Long long ago before your parents’ grandparents lived, there was a little alien searching for something. This something was the meaning of a very vague peculiar word “home”. Though he already knew the definition from oxford dictionaries “The place where one lives permanently, especially as a member of a family or household” he longed for something more. While traveling across the galaxies he stumbled across our Milky Way, and in our Milky Way he found little Earth and decided to stop there. During his stay on Earth he found two children, not much older than you and I, playing in a park. One child invited the other child and the alien over for dinner. Throughout dinner the alien decided to ask them: what does the word Home mean? One child described joyous, wonderful and happy things like warmth, love, hopes, dreams and care. The other child gave examples of love, hopes, dreams and care like hugs, kisses and delicious food. This child dreamed of becoming a firefighter, and the child’s parents were very supportive. This little alien learned that home wasn’t just a place you lived but a feeling as well. Everyone should have a home like what the children described. “A house is made of walls and beams. A home is made of hopes and dreams” -Anonymous
