Grade 6

A Lovely Home

After a boring day of school, I rush home in a beam,
Only to wake up the baby who now shouts and screams

I wait for my mother to cook up that lovely meal,
Oh, just the smell brings back that heartwarming feel

I go prancing along to do studies in my room,
Then I see my cat go past me in a zoom

Just when I put my hands on that videogame controller,
My brother snatches it and tells me that I couldn’t be any slower

A lash of excitement crawls up my face,
As my father comes back from work and into this wonderful place

I draw the curtains and turn off the lights,
But the darkness just gives me the gloomy cold frights

I close my eyes and go to sleep,
Hoping that the next day won’t be one to weep
