A Home to Me

¨ Home is where love resides, memories are created, friends and family belong and laughter never ends.¨

Home to me is somewhere you can go after having a bad day. You might feel sad, lonely or hurt but, when you get home you know everything is going to be alright.

In the winter, when it’s freezing outside you can come inside to your home from playing outside. Your fingertips might feel like they’re going to fall off, your ears are numb, and maybe your toes are frosty. You come inside and there’s hot cocoa waiting for you by the fireside, you can grab a blanket and a book, then you go to the comfiest chair and start to read. Maybe you will stay there a few minutes, maybe all night, but you feel at home. You feel safe and that’s all that matters.

Some days you might feel scared, maybe even terrified, you might get that feeling that someone is watching you. When you get home that feeling disappears, you are at home with family. You’re not alone, you feel loved. You are not worried, you never feel abandoned. Your family is there to protect you. That’s what safe means, to me.

It does not matter what your home looks like, it doesn’t matter what the inside or the outside looks like. It only matters that you and your family feel like you are ready to take on the world. When there is a warm roof over your head. you can feel the courage stirring up inside you, and then you are ready to take on the world.
