What Home Means to ME
Home to me isn’t just the place that I sleep, eat and store stuff and it’s currently not just a physical structure. It represents safety, love and belonging. To me home is late nights sitting in front of the fire watching sports with my mom dad and sister listening to the foxes rustle in the leaves.
But I think home only feels like home when you have people you love to share it with. My mom and dad anchor our house down. First, I want to talk about my mom. She is the one who notices what I need before I even think to ask. Her love is in the small details, the specific way she prepares a meal or the quiet check-in after a long day. She is the one who lets our family revolve, teaching us the true essence of compassion.
Next, my Dad. His presence alone provides a sense of security. Whether it’s a joke to break a tense silence or the way he quietly takes care of the things that need fixing. He is the rock that allows the rest of us to be ourselves.
But now for my sister. We might fight over silly things, but she is my best friend in a way no one else can be. She is the only other person who truly knows what it was like to grow up in our world. She is the one who protects me, who understands the "inside jokes" of our history, and who stands by me when things get tough.
This is all what home means to me and as I said I think home feels like home because of the people you share it with.
