Home Is...

Home can be a funny concept, and many different people see it many different ways. I think home is more than just a building, not just a house, it's a feeling.. That sense of belonging you get from sitting around the kitchen table playing cards with your family, talking about the day. My home can be a time, a time when I am watching TV with my sister or just lying in bed reading and listening to the radio downstairs. Home tastes like my mom’s freshly baked chocolate chip cookies that melt in your mouth like chocolatey heaven or my dad’s special hot chocolate after a cold day outside. If you have ever had a bad day or just feel down, home should be a place you can go to clear your mind or just cool off. Home to me can look like a cozy bed I made earlier and I am so grateful for my mom telling me to make it, even if it was annoying at the time. In the afternoon when I get back from school, home smells like a delicious dinner cooking in the oven. I know that in my home I can be myself and no one will judge me. My home is like a jungle I can always explore. In the summer I can go out in the garden and feel the warm sun on my face. Then in the winter I can go sledding on the hill forever making memories to be stored away in photos to cry over and laugh at years later. No matter where you live your life or how you live it you probably have someone or somewhere to call home. Home is more than just a place; it's the adventures that go on inside it that count.
