The Meaning of Home
For me, home is Bell Island Newfoundland. Whether it's the fun celebrations at the park filled with people having fun and spending time with their families during the summer, or the quiet winter evenings spent watching movies with your family on the couch. All of these places are home, and they aren’t just houses. They are: a birthday party at a friend's house where you laugh so much your ribs hurt, or going to the beach with the people you care about and swimming in the deep blue water. Home is where you can feel safe, loved and appreciated. It’s where you laugh with family and friends, or cry when you are feeling down. Home is where you can talk about anything without being judged or laughed at, and these places aren’t always houses. It could be a friend's house or a park where you used to play when you were small. Home is where you chose it to be, it could be anywhere you want it to.
Home means spending time with people you love, or playing your sport and celebrating after with your team. It’s also where you can be yourself. Home is waking up and watching the sunrise outside while reading a book, or watching the sunset at a campfire while eating a warm gooey s’more. It could even be a movie or a book you can find comfort in after a hard day. It's where you’re cared about and loved. It’s where you spend time with your family, whether it’s a family movie or game night. Home is a place that's there when you need it. In the end home isn’t just a house.
