The Meaning of Home

Home is a deep and soulful place with heartfelt, calm memories. It is like a giant warm cozy hug wrapping you with warmth and comfort. Home is a place of hope when I am down. It is my place of happiness like the beautiful garden glistening in the window of my room. Home is the place where I have a roof above my head and rest my head when I am tired. It is a place where I can be creative and shine like I am supposed to. Home is a place where l can be the best I can be and feel special and be appreciative of what I have. Home is where I can be whatever my dreams can think of. It is a place where I live with my brother, my dad, my mom and my two pet fishes. Home is a place where I can spend time with my friends and hang out. My dad is from Nigeria and my mom is from Newfoundland, so home is a place where cultures intertwine. Home is a place where I know I belong even when I feel like I don't. It is where I hear my creaky stairs, the birds chirping and the plants swaying in my backyard. Home is where I smell my mom’s cookies and the seasoning of my dad’s favorite okra soup. Home is a place to cherish and admire if you are lucky to have one. Although some people don’t have a home, I think that everyone deserves to have one. So if I win, I know that I will be helping people to have a place to call home.
