One morning while Mia was eating breakfast, a question came into Mia’s mind. The question came out of her mouth, but her mouth was full of cereals. She made a “Gulp” as she swallowed her cereal. Her family didn’t understand. “Can you repeat?”, said Jessi.
“What’s the difference with home and house?”, said Mia before taking a bite. So, Jessi went running to her room to start writing. When Jessi finished, she handed it to Mia. “What are you waiting? Go read!”, said Jessi impatiently.
“There’s a problem. I can’t read!”, said Mia discouraged.
“I’ll read it. Give me the paper! You're slow! This is what’s written:
This might take a while so you should sit. Home is where you sleep and where you're here, but a house is where your friend might live. That means it’s not your home for you, it’s a house.
“Hey, don’t fall asleep. I’m not close to being done”. She continued.
Home is where you feel comfortable to ask any questions or do anything. A house is where you don’t feel as comfortable than if you’re at home, and there’s so many other different ways to describe the difference with home and house!
“So now do you understand?”, said Jessi looking tired.
“Yeah, I do”, said Mia.
“What your sister means in short, is that a home is where you always live and a house is where you don’t live”, said mother confidently.
“Oh, now I understand more. Thanks mom”, said Mia.
“I’m the one who read!!”, said Jessi.
“Yours was boring. Mother’s was short, so I understand better”, said Mia.
“I took my time to do this!”, said Jessi.
“You're still there, then stop listening!”, said Mia.
Since that day, Mia would never ask this question again. Thank you, habitat, for humanity.
