What Home Means to Me

Home is a place where I feel safe to be who I am. To feel happy, to feel sad and to never be judged. Home is a place where dreams take flight. Home can be welcoming, it can be boring or it can be emotional. Home is a shelter with bricks and tiles but sometimes it can be more. It could have animals running around, it could have everyone gathering around to play board games, it could even have everyone joining at a table to have a meal. Home can create lots of fun or sad memories. I love it when my mom and dad are in the kitchen making dinner for us to eat together, creating lots of wonderful aromas and I'm so grateful that I get to live in a home with food, water and shelter even though I may not have the best home. I know that not everyone gets a home. Home is like a plant because a plant grows just like my home grows with memories. I love my home and I hope it is forever my home. It is a place where when I leave I want to come back to it. I have never moved before but I hope I never have to. I always hear people talking about moving away in sad voices with disappointed friends around them. I enjoy getting home from school to relax on the couch in cozy blankets with soft pillows with my family in my home and the taste of fresh popcorn filling my mouth while watching movies. I cherish those moments because I know that at one point everyone has to move away. That is what home means to me, it’s where I belong.
