The Story of Home

The Story Of HOME When you think of a home, you think of a house. A Television, a Table, and a Couch. You think of a Bed, a Window and some Bedding. That’s not the story of home, that’s just the setting. The story of home starts in a place, where there’s a safe, cozy, space. A break from the world, many rooms to roam. The entryway greets us, this is home. The sound of my dog, the puppy gets near. The tapping of his paws is what I want to hear. I’ll go off to the bedroom alone. Filled with peace and solitude, this is home. I’ll take colourful books off the shelf, there are plenty. I’ll read in the comfort of my bed, it’s never empty. The walls are painted green, it’s a peaceful tone, it might be a tiny room, but this is home. I’ll venture to the basement, it’s full of toys. I hear the sounds of laughter, it’s different from noise. Playing in the basement alone, it may look like a mess, but this is home. Dinnertime comes, so I climb the stairs. The tasty aroma fills the air. Eating my Mom’s rice I’m never alone. It may not look perfect, but this is home. When you think of a home, you think of a house. Some pieces of furniture and maybe a pet mouse. But a home is the story that was there all along. Home is where the heart is, that’s where my heart belongs. Thank you Habitat For Humanity for rewriting people’s stories. Your homes are filled with generosity, they help people of many categories.
