Sheila's Big Mistake About Home
One day, Sheila asked her parents, “ Can we get a new house?” Her parents looked at each other and laughed but looked confused. They asked her,”Honey, why would you want a new house?” Right before Sheila could answer her mom’s phone rang.” Hello,” she said. Then she kept nodding and replying “mhm”, her mom hung up after a few minutes. Sheila asked her mom, “Who was that?” but her mom didn’t answer, all she said was, “ we will talk about it soon, now you have to go to school.” Sheila went to go get ready, she put on her uniform and packed her bag. She went downstairs, hugged her parents , and went out of her house. She started walking. When she got to school, she told her friends, “ Hi guys! I really want a new house, but my parents don’t want to get a new house.” Her friends looked at each other the same way her parents did. One of her friends asked her, “ Sheila, why would you want a new house? Don’t you remember all the memories we made?” All her friends started to agree with that friend, so Sheila started thinking about it. One day she finally got the courage to talk to her parents. “Mom,” Sheila said, but they stopped her in the middle of her sentence. “Sheila”, they said, “remember that phone call?” “Um, yes?” Sheila said. They said, “ Okay, we will bring you somewhere so just follow us”. Sheila got in the car, put her seatbelt on, and waited. After fifteen minutes, her parents parked in front of a nice, big house. Her mom blindfolded her and helped her out of the car. They brought her up the stairs and opened the house door. Her mom took off the blindfold and Sheila was shocked. She burst into tears. Her parents asked her, “Honey, why are you crying?”. Sheila didn’t answer. She just kept on looking around. After a few minutes she finally started talking. “Mom, dad , I cried because I was about to tell you I had changed my mind”. Her parents were shocked. They hugged her and told her, “Oh honey, we are sorry but we can’t do anything now”. Sheila looked disappointed. “Its okay, now all we have to do is bring our stuff here and make new memories!”. To this day, Sheila remembered to be grateful for what she has and to make new memories. She also learned that home is an important place, where you can rest, have fun, make memories and be with your family, so she will never change it again because nothing else can replace home.
