What a home means to me

My home is a place where I feel safe. When I am at home I think about my grandmother, who since passed away, that once lived where I live now. My home was where my mom grew up. My bedroom was my mom’s old room. So, now we both share different memories of the same room. It's changed since it was her room, but it’s something that makes it even more special. We are doing massive renovations and my home is changing. We installed new fences, windows and doors. The upstairs was gutted and it felt strange, it felt different. Day by day it's feeling like home again. I realized that a home is not material things, but things you can’t forget. It is a memory, like when I took my first steps or learned to ride my bike. My home is for Christmases and birthdays with my family. Supper at the table with friends and too much food with board games and laughter. Home isn’t a place it is a feeling, no matter where you are. It’s a place that will always be there no matter how old I get.
