MY Home

When you first think of home, what do you think of? Most people might say that it's a place where you live and sleep, with big walls and many rooms with heat, light and running water. But that isn’t always the case. It could be more or even less or a site that's not even their house, just a place that comes from the heart. My home is where we sit together at the table as the sunsets in the evening. Eating warm and delicious, appetising and good smelling home cooked food that fills the house with an aroma and talking about how our days went. My home is where my parents and my brother sit down calmly and listen to the elegant piano that I play as they’re working away on their computer and giving feedback on my playing. My home is where we play in the snow and make snowman families with a bright orange carrot nose as well as an old hat each one and naming the family: “The Frosty and Olaf Family 2.0” or we scream at the top of our lungs as we sled down the gigantic hill and falling off the sled at the end, later leading into a snowball fight and going back up the hill (or should I say Mount Everest) just to do it all over again. My home is where we light candles all over the house and wave sparkling firecrackers and shoot out bright and colourful fireworks in the air with our neighbours at night and eat tasty traditional Indian sweets for Diwali. That’s why Habitat for Humanity gathers people that have more, to help people that have less because we all deserve a good, stable place to live and make new memories.
