The Meaning of Home

My home is kelowna. It’s the smell of people cooking, the smell of fresh fruit being grown. When I walk into my home I smell freshly cut grass every single day, and that makes me happy, knowing that this is MY home. When I'm home I hear the sound of people cheering and having fun. I hear people splashing water at the beach in the summertime. I hear people having birthdays and enjoying being here. And that's how I know it's my home. I taste hot chocolate, and I taste smores. I taste the fresh water that I can drink everyday. It's MY home. My home feels soft and warm. My home feels cozy and I know I can express myself in a way that I can't in front of other people. My home is not like a house. A house is your house, it's inside your home. Your home is different from a house because a home is WHERE you live not where you sleep everyday and sit inside. Kelowna will always be my home, people have different homes; it won't always be the same as other people. Home is like a blanket, but it’s not something you can change. Even if you move somewhere else for the rest of your life, it will always be your home no matter what. But your home is always with you. It’s what you bring with you forever, no matter what house you move into. Home isn't what you would think it is, and it isn't a house even though people mix them up. The right term is: “Do you want to come to my HOUSE tomorrow?” and you don't say “ Do you want to come to my home tomorrow?” because it’s not supposed to be said in that way.
