“Your home should tell the story of who you are, and be a collection of what you love,” Nate Berkus once stated. When I hear this quote it makes me think of myself. I have lived in two houses, two different cities and even different environments. Even though I was always in the same province it just feels different. Even just looking at my home, I think of all the memories. But the first time I walked into this so-called home, it wasn't home to the six year old me, it was just a building, but with the help of my family & friends, I would soon call it home. Home isn’t a place, it’s the people around you that make it home. That's what I thought when my teacher explained what we were doing. So if someone asked me, what do you call home? That's what I would say. After time, my house felt like home, it took family, friends, schools, and sports to think how lucky I am to have a place to call home. Where I felt “Safe, welcomed and belong here.” -Grade Six Jelly Bean Oath (made by the amazing Mr. Brass, my teacher). Although I felt like home before grade six, having a great teacher and school makes me feel more like home even when I am not at my house. Which I am so lucky to have. So if you asked me, What does home feel like to you? This is what I would say.
