Home is my Happy Place

Some people might think that a house and a home are the same, but they are very different. A house is a structure built out of wood, stone,or bricks, but a home is made with love. It’s a feeling, not a thing. Home is the feeling of happiness, joy and feeling safe. Home should be clean, bring joy, and make memories. Home should be comfortable, where friends gather, where you can make mistakes, and have fun. Home is where you help each other, love each other, and feel cozy. My house guards my body. My home guards my heart. You can’t have a home without a family. Otherwise it’s just a house. When I think of home, I think of smelling the rich aroma of fresh chocolate chip cookies, just coming out of the oven. Tasting creamy mashed PEI potatoes melt in my mouth. Savoring the sight of the hushed saltwater, drifting to the shore and back again. Feeling smooth, sand tickles my toes. The sensation of laughter echoing in my ears. I feel at home.
